Completeness

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

“So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Colossians 2:10

The dictionary definition for completeness is “having everything that is needed”. But the truth is that real total completeness can only be as a divine initiative and impartation rather than human creativity or accomplishment! Absolute completeness is obtained by maintaining confidence in God alone. My inadequacies only serve to drive me closer to Him and reminds me of my continuous need of Him in every circumstance. The Bible teaches us that outside of Christ we are incomplete, ever searching and never finding on our own initiative! But in Christ, our souls can rest. He is all we need, and lasting hope is found only in him.

We can supplement or lean on our best efforts or practices as human beings but that will only create frustration and insufficiency. What determines is whether we are focusing on the crisis on Christ? The Bible confirms that it’s only in Christ that we can be sufficient as believers. This should encourage us to maintain our posture in Christ daily.

Dear Heavenly Father, what a thrilling truth, that I am spiritually complete through my union with Christ Jesus, my Savior. Teach me all I need to know to become more and more like Jesus with every passing day. Amen

Meditate on: “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” Philippians 1:6
