A good friend enjoys your company and loves to be around you. You don’t have to impress them because they know a lot about you. Their confidence is contagious and they are loyal!
I have a short story which really portrays how Jesus knows everything about us and is our model of friendship because He loves us without limits. He makes it possible for us to live a life of friendship.
One year ago, I had surgery and I experienced this model of friendship. I was anxious and uneasy as anyone else would be! But Jesus reminded me that he was present throughout the process. I didn’t have to impress him because he already knew everything concerning me. He allowed me to go through it and knew that he would be present through it all because He is my friend.
I am very grateful to friends who were there, cared and prayed for me! You are all amazing! One friend, texted me and interceded for me as I went through those hours! So very thankful to you and all, you modelled Jesus! Today, I am able to testify of His goodness and faithfulness through this hard time I experienced! He loves us without limits and makes it possible to live a life of authentic friendship.
In John 15:4 says, ‘You are my friends”….to His disciples. Jesus gave everything to his friends and us: his knowledge of God and even his own life! Abraham and Moses had courageous conversations with God because they were friends. Their questions to him were somehow a sign of friendship so that God could disclose more to them. I was reminded of the time when he reminded the Israelites in Exodus that "He carried them on eagles wings"!
We can also have authentic friendships with him to that extent because he calls us His friends too! Knowing He is with us and cares makes our burdens so much lighter. He is our greatest Friend!
