Some of the positive characteristics of sheep are gentleness, emotionally complex, innocence and being highly intelligent!
On the other hand a couple of negatives with regard to sheep are: lack of sense of direction and stubbornness. Here a true story of some sheep who used to lay down on the road daily in a marketplace and would not move. Traffic had to go around them to get to where it was heading. In order to get the sheep to move each time the shepherd had to make them move.
Our relationship with the Lord our Shepherd is beautifully outlined in Psalm 23 that states: “I have all that I need; he lets me rest in green meadows; leads me beside peaceful streams; he renews my strength; guides me along the right paths.” The Lord, our Shepherd walks ahead and the sheep (God’s people) follow him and have the capability of recognizing His voice. We are so blessed to have Jesus in our lives as our “Good Shepherd”. He steps up for us each time to defeat our terrifying enemy around us!
