Light of the World

Updated: Apr 21

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

Light is a rich symbol with many meanings. The form of energy that makes it possible to see things. The form of energy that makes it possible to see.  It can represent holiness, purity, innocence, goodness, perfection; glory, splendor, majesty, magnificence, wonder, insight, wisdom, intelligence, or knowledge, the presence of God, joy and truth.

Jesus, the Light of the World. The one who is the true light, gives light to everyone came into the world. John 1:9. The Light pierces the darkness and cannot be extinguished by darkness. When the angel of the Lord appeared to the shepherds, the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were frightened.

Immanuel shines brightest on the darkest of days. Hope lives within our hearts enabling us to shine bright so that others see Jesus. We allow light to shine through our actions.

God is the source of all the good we have and all the good we crave for.  He does not change when our circumstances change. The scriptures reveal Jesus as the “Sun of Righteousness”.

The Bible clearly tells us that God is unchanging. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” As in Hebrews 13:8. Malachi 3:6 says, “I am the Lord, and I do not change. While everything around us is changing, we can depend on God continually showing us His grace, love, and compassion. He does not change, his essence, character and purpose.  He is the shining Light during this wonderful season of celebration!

Thank you, Lord for always being a light in the dark places of the world and the dark places of our lives. Our hope is in you, for you are the light of the world and you call us to be lights for others. May your light and love blaze in us and in all the world always. Amen.

Throughout the day meditate on: For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ." 2Cor. 4:6
