The Game Changer

“My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance. 1 Samuel 2:1

We want our desires to be fulfilled in an appropriate time frame.  When this doesn’t happen, we feel frustrated, isolated, ignored, and misunderstood. Others may not understand your pain and hurt.   Hannah felt this way, but she believed that God would do what He said He would do. She didn’t doubt God, despite the ridicule and challenges she went through.

The story of Hannah talks of intense grief and despair which turns to exuberant joy.  But God never makes mistakes. He never forgets to work on our behalf. Our deepest prayers and longings are always before Him. His ways are much higher than ours and His timing is different.

When our longings go unmet, what can we do?  Philippians 4:6 says “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Prayer may not always result in an immediate resolution, but it can always bring immediate relief.  Hannah had hope for the first time in a long time, because her hope was in God alone.

There are times when we may take our fears, troubles and longings to the Lord and the same thing can happen to us.  Our prayers might not change our situations immediately, but they always change us!

Dear Lord, Help me to keep my eyes focused on you in every situation.  Help me to trust you at all times regardless on what’s going on around me. Amen

What are you longing for and have you presented it to the Lord? He is the same God who came through for Hannah and many others and is capable to  do it for you in His time.
