“The tassels will help you remember that you must obey all the commands and be holy to your God.” Numbers 15: 40 I came across this scripture while reading the book of Numbers. The Israelites enroute to the wilderness were given these instructions that they were to make tassels for the hems of their clothing and attach them with a blue cord throughout the generations to come.
The purpose for this was clearly stated that: “I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt that I might be your God. I am the Lord your God.” vs 41.
The tassel was like a memory device today but was attached on a garment! Just as the memory storage is used to store and retrieve for future use and reminders. The tassels had a significant role attached on the Israelites hems of their clothing. They were being taught first hand obedience and instructions from the Lord. Is God reminding you of something today? Can you decipher it? We can anticipate God’s goodness!
What a great lesson of reminder today to be deliberate and do something tangible to remind us of our constant relationship with God regularly. What I do daily matters! The Bible reminds us to hide God’s Word in our hearts. The Holy Spirit is able to take those tassels and use them to remind us of His faithfulness in the situations we face. The best tassels we attach on our hearts are memorized scriptures. His Word, His goodness will touch us in our times of need. We can also meditate on God’s Word to minister to us and in turn touch other lives for God.
