Unchangeable

Updated: Feb 3

“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act?  Has he ever promised and not carried it through?            Numbers 23:19

Right from Genesis to Revelation, we know that God is the Creator.  Unchangeable is His attribute and the Bible confirms it many times.  What an encouragement as we walk into the unknown future because He knows exactly how each day will turn out to be.  This is an assurance to have confidence in our faith walk.  We are reminded in Hebrews 12:2 to “keep our eyes on Jesus, our Champion who initiates perfect faith.

King Balak was in a predicament, he tried so hard, took Balaam to several different locations in hopes of getting him to do the wrong thing, curse God’s people.  After several attempts at relocation and bribery, God repeatedly instructed Balaam to bless the Israelites instead. God is unchanging in His character, will and His promises. This story ends with Balaam pronouncing three messages of blessings over God’s people. That was the initial plan right from the beginning!

At some point in our lives, most of us have experienced that moment where our plan is not God’s plan and we stubbornly pursue it, hoping to have God to be in agreement.  No matter how much we try to run, persuade or manipulate, God doesn’t change His mind. The encouragement is to keep tuned in. His promises will definitely be fulfilled in our lives as we trust him. He is so kind and gracious! We are guaranteed more peace and joy and He gets more glory when we surrender, yield and obey Him.

Dear Lord, Thank you that you are the same, yesterday, today and forever.  You are trustworthy and unchangeable no matter what happens.  Help me to be fully focused on you today.  Amen

Reflect on: Is there any area of your life where you need to submit your plans to God’s plans?

What’s one step you can take this week to do that.
