This is a question that came to my mind recently, while listening during my quiet time. I thought of "my relationship with the Lord"! I then decided to reflect and explore a little bit more on this looking at what 3 Bible characters said:
In summary, David said: "The One Thing I ask " ..Psalm 27:4 ..."to live in His presence and have confidence, have assurance even when so much was going on around him. He was convinced of this.
Paul said: ... I focus on this One Thing" .... Philippians 3:13 .. Paul's eye was on the goal. He was determined to press on", and there would be no turning back . His relationship with the Lord was most important to him.
In the Mary & Martha episode - Luke 10: 41-42 - distraction & devotion emerged. Frustration kicked in but Jesus address to them was: "One Thing is needed". Martha focusing on hospitality and busyness was doing a good thing but at the wrong time!
On the other hand Mary demonstrated her devotion to Jesus just at the right time. Although we live in a "Martha world" what we first need is "the Mary heart". This is a truth that we all need to absorb in our busy daily lives! Remember Jesus deserves priority in your busyness!
The One Thing!
Our relationship with Jesus so clearly demonstrated by David, Paul and Mary.
God is still speaking, calling and inviting people into His Kingdom daily to give Him priority!
