Who am I?

Updated: Aug 22, 2023

But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11

Have you ever asked the question. Who am I? Perhaps you were assigned a task beyond your ability or asked to do something out of your comfort zone. Well, Moses asked God the same question. God had seen the misery of the Israelites in Egypt and decided to deliver them. He chose Moses as the best candidate for the job and extended the invitation to him to be involved in liberating them.

Moses had a unique meeting with God where he asked all the questions and God gave all the answers. He portrayed his unwillingness, self-perceived inadequacies and was afraid of rejection by the Israelites and Pharaoh and said he was not eloquent and felt incompetent. Although Moses knew God, he was afraid that the Israelites had forgotten God. So Moses was told by God to say that, “I AM has sent me to you”. More details of God’s answers to Moses are found in Exodus 3:13-15.

Have you ever been afraid of rejection? I have. Has God ever asked you to trust Him or share your faith with someone and you were afraid? Moses didn’t have to provide his own answers. They were available for when he would need them. God always gives us the answers at the right time.

In the end Moses became a hero for Israelites because of his obedience to God not because of his natural abilities or qualifications. He was now depending on God’s faithfulness who is said was the “I AM WHO I AM”. He is the same God we can depend upon when we He assigns us a difficult task.

Dear Lord, help me to trust you and surrender and walk in obedience in carrying out the tasks you assign me and know that you THE Great IAM is in total control. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Throughout the Day: Meditate on the verse: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” Hebrews 13:8 God always has more in store. He has all the answers. He is unchangeable. We can count on Him who lives within us by the power of the Holy Spirit.
